Jim DeMint has long said that he wouldn't vote to raise the debt ceiling, and he recommended that other freshman republicans follow his lead. Someone has gotten through to the republicans, a little too late, though, to avoid all consequences. Usually, I spread the blame around, but with this debate, the republicans have made me sick to my stomach with their staunch ideology overriding common sense and the good of the nation.
